My brother is in need of a new monitor for gaming for around £150 23"/24" would be nice

I was also wondering about this. I am unsure whether I should go for a Iiyama monitor, or a u2312hm ips monitor for gaming.

TN has better response times and usually less input lag but the actual image quality, colours, viewing angles etc. are a fair bit inferior to IPS.

IPS with overdrive has very good pixel response still and good input lag so really unless you want 120hz then IPS is the obvious choice from what is currently on the market.
