Hi. I'm currently toying with the idea of replacing my Popcorn Hour A-110 with something a bit more suitable to all the HD stuff that's being thrown at it these days. From the looks of things XBMC is the way to go, would run it on Win7. System wise I keep finding more and more options...Acer Revo, ASRock & Zotac so far and getting lost in a mass of specs!
I need to have the following:
HD 1080 playback from mkv/avi etc of large files (streamed from QNAP NAS, cabled) (up to 42gb BR rips)
Dolby DTS etc
HDMI output for video - going to plasma
S/PDIF for audio - going to 7.1 amp
I'm happy to build one myself, kinda thinking this would suit better, though again can't decide on a thin-but-wide case (cabinet space at a premium) or whether an Atom processor will be up to the tasks? Maybe an i3 instead? Usual requirement of it being near-silent of course!
Budget wise I don't want to spend more than 400 quid tops, and ideally need to avoid having too shiny a case for 280 notes.
Any advice on all of the above or bits of it greatly received![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
Cheers
