Hi folks - what should I be doing with my Specialized Hybrid? It was parked up in October last year and not used since. Should be oiling things? Or just pumping tyres up and getting going?

I've just gone mine out (it's an old Marin). Pumped up the tyres, went out. Came back 10 mins later with a flat. Have replaced both tyres and both inner tubes. Tyres are about 13 years old and tubes I have no idea, but I've hardly ridden my bike or the last couple of years so they've just sat flat in the garage. I've gone up from 35mm to 43mm tyres and am loving the smoother ride.

All good though. I thought about cleaning it up and oiling it but it rides fine.

Bit of lube on the chain, check tyre pressures and check brakes apply ok. Maybe check sprocket and front ring shifts are ok... Then go ride!

Thanks chaps. Is there a specific lube I should use for the chain?

How would one check the sprocket and front ring shifts?
