Heya, am looking into getting a dedicated LAN case that is not too heavy but can take a knock or bang no probs, has a strap and/or handle and preferably some form of security for the innards.

I am not interested in any way shape or form in the shuttle or micro-ATX form mobo cases.

So far there seems to be:

- Coolermaster Ammo 533 (has handle and seems sturdy)
- Antec Super LAN Boy (has strap)
- NZXT Lexa Classic Series Ultra light Aluminum Midtower (has strap and keylocks)

The case would be carried on public transport - buses, trains, etc so may be worth thinking of luggage space etc. Are there any other suggestions?

The NZXT flexs an awful lot, and certainly does not take knocks as well as the Lanboy will!

Go with the lanboy, it had flaws as a £80 case, but at £33 you really can't fault it, brilliant buy all round.

It comes with the straps only, nice and small and easy to carry aswell, by far the best choice, the NZXT Lexa is very thin, and not up to being moved to much really.

Im a build quality freak, which suits Lan cases very well, and the Super Lanboy is the best case you can get under £100 for lans in my opinion, its the right size, right price for it getting scratched (not the end of the world) and it has a door so there is no risk of in a car something falling and hitting your drives.

Its what it was designed for, and at £33 you can't get a gaming case (like the Lexa) to match it right up until you spend £150, which is silly money really for lans.

thanks for the input peeps. Does the super lan boy have any form of security tho?

None - but you can always head down to B&Q, get some lock and hinges for like £5... IF you really need to lock it in some form.

The lanboy DOES have a form of security. At the back of each side panel is a loop to put padlocks on, so nobody can get inside of your case.

I'm using one at the moment, and it really is a good case. Been to about 4 lans so far. The last one i went to, my mate dropped my PC whilst taking it out of the car. It was only from about knee height but no damage was done

And a Cheiffy scorpio with lockable plastic door and pop of hinges would stop anyone? :p

Your looking at all aluminium cases before a lock would work even remotely, if your worried about your disks, shove some insulation tape over your drives and that would be a deterrant it it went all the way round the case.
