Hey folks,

Just need some advice about getting a 2nd SSD for my partner's PC.

At the moment she only has a 500GB SSD and I wanted to get her an additional NVMe M.2 SSD. Her motherboard is a Z390 Master.

As she just inherited that PC and I don't know much about it, are there specific spec of SSDs that's compatible with it? Can someone recommend some options of 1-2 TB ones?

Also, would there be a specific slot that should go into? I think the GPU she has in is the 2080ti, if that matters in terms of the slots that it takes.

Thanks very much!

Martin

Your motherboard has NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 slots but you can use a pcie4 m2 it will just run at pcie3 speed .

Please state weather you want a 1tb or 2tb and if you are happy with pcie3 or pcie4 .

Thank you!

A 1tb will do.

I also don't know the difference between the pcie3 or 4 - is it just speed? Would it be better to get a pcie4 in case it goes into a new build at some point? I think pcie3 should be fine, unless there's a strong argument for the latter.

Theese should be fine and it's on offer at Overclockers a pcie4 will run at half speed on a pcie3 slot.

Pcie3

Pcie4
