I'm upgrading my PC and I mainly use it for gaming. I don't need a monitor and I'm planning on reusing my corsair 750W PSU, my dvdrw and my graphics card which I will upgrade later in the year. I'm willing to spend £700-£800 (the lower the better) on a new CPU/Heatsink, Motherboard, RAM, Case and Windows 7. The SSD I picked is definitely the one I want so I don't want to change that. How does this look, or are there any better options?

In my opinion you should go for the Corsair XMS3 8GB kit and the MSI GD53 Board.

Agreed. Try changing to XMS3. Plus good choice of case. I myself was going to get the CM690 but I got my antec 1200 because I got some spare money. Should be a good build :)

How can he get the GD53 if it's not in stock? It won't be in stock till next week so unless he can wait....

Another alternative would be the Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H which is an extra £15 which can be recovered by changing the SSD to a Corsair Force Series 3

Defo go for the XMS3 as Moothead suggested and the A50 will have thermal compound pre-applied but if you really feel the need to get some go for some MX-2 - it's a couple of quid cheaper and it's non-conductive so it won't turn your pc into a bonfire should there be a spark inside godforbid lol

I was assuming he could wait until it was in stock but your choice is good too :D.

I don't need to buy it right now, I can wait a while. I'm just planning ahead for when I buy it. And thanks for the SSD comparison post!

The MSI GD53 doesn't support RAM up to 1600MHz so would that really be the best? Using the other suggestions here I came up with this:

*snip*

Yes it does.

All Sand Bridge motherboards default the RAM at 1333MHz but they allow you to overclock the RAM to it's native speed, so the GD53 will allow you to have the 1600MHz:)

MSI P67A-GD53 (B3)

- Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/2133*(OC) DRAM, 32GB Max
- Supports 1GB/ 2GB/ 4GB/ 8GB DRAM size
- Supports Dual channel mode

lol.

Do you think being electrically conductive is the same as being flammable?
