Speck inside my lens :/

Inside my lens I have noticed a fair sized, light coloured speck, its not on the outer glass, its on the next, bulbous looking layer.

lens: Nikkor 18-70mm

Any ideas how this happened and what I can do?

Don't worry about it, the dust spec won't affect your images.

I've got a spec on the inside of the front element of my 170-500. I think it got in through the other end at some point while changing lenses and worked it's way up the barrel until it finally caught on the glass, I would assume that's how yours got in as well.

If it doesn't show up in photos I wouldn't worry about it, if it does I have no idea how you'd go about getting it out besides taking the lens appart
