Hey guys hope all is well for you all.

I have my main system and a media pc sitting in one dedicated gaming/media room. My media pc has a i5 2500k with 8 gig of ram. I have a new girlfriend who loves gaming. She really wants to play all the games I play like bf3 mw3 etc...

What gfx card would you guys recommend that will run on my media pc hooked up to a high end 3d projector and tv. I would like to go down the 3d route so was thinking nvidia... Would I need 3d vision as well to get the best out of my 3d displays? I understand nvidia have some software called 3dtv which is what I will need.

The projector is a Panasonic pt-at5000e, and the tv is last years top Panasonic 50 inch vt series panel. Both are 3d and 1080p

I was thinking a gtx 670. Would that be overkill?

Thanks for your advice guys.

No it won't, not with Nvidia 3D anyway-120hz native(not software based) monitor required for Nvidia 3D, unless the projector is Nvidia 3D certified, but the TV would be a no no, but both will work with an Amd gpu for 3D.

Amd and tridef would probably be the best bet, Tridef can be had for ~£18 on offer if bought with an Amd GPU in your system.

Tridef media player/3D games support is in the package.

Will work with Nvidia too, but only Amd has Frame Sequential support on Tridef.

An over clocked 7850 or above will give you decent results in 3D.

intresting.. so my projector and tv wont be able to output 120hz. If hooked them up and the highest they seem to be able to display is 60hz.

so Amd is the route to take. I never thought that would be the case with nvidia having cornered the market.

what about the software they have nvidia 3dtv?

thanks for the replies so far... very useful

projector and tv will work through nvidia, projector needs to be on the compatible list for easy use but you can spoof the edid to show as say an acer h5360 and get other ones to work i.e optoma (1080p 3D aint happening though). 3DTV's DO work on nvidia but you need the 3DTV play software, google it and theres a list of supported tv's, it's free to people who buy the 3D vision kit (or it used to be, not quite sure now)

I wasn't aware the usb hack still worked, I thought it was dead after the 670 Whql andy?

That's why I didn't go there, are you just using the edid hack with the 3D vision kit?

I put up a thread the other week but no one answered that specific question, would be thankful if you can throw some light on the matter andy.:)

I will look into nvidia 3dtv play. Thanks for that. So does most ppl agree amd is still the best route to go?

For simplicity, I would go AMD. Maybe worth your time investigating with your TV and Projector as these are being supported By NVIDIA more and more.

Amazingly enough my projector is the only Panasonic projector supported by nvidia 3dtv play!

My tv is supported too.

Would nvidia 3dtv play give me better results than going AMD?

In truth I don't know but maybe the monitor section maybe a little better with that info.
