Hey All,

Just working on a new spec, wondered what you thought...This will be used really for gaming and watching blu-rays (the blu-ray bit im unsure if I have all I need)

Just so you know I will be gaming on a 40" TV 1080p so DVI-HDMI cable will be added :D

Also I was just trying to work out if I should go Windows Vista 64bit and go 4gb ram OR stay with XP go 2gb and upgrade later when everything is a bit more stable (I have been on vista 32bit before and all seemed ok just wanted to see what people think)

Anyways here's my spec so far:

(I forgot but the case but will probably be Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case)

:DCool, was just wondering would it be worth waiting for the revised GTS thats on its way to see if there is a worth while cost to benefit thing? Just thinking for things like Crysis and UT and just to keep it going as long as can be

This has twice as much processor, RAM of equal performance, a decent mobo, the OEM version of the optical drive since you probably don't need a fancy box and the same software you can download for free, a faster graphics card, and a pair of faster hard drives.

Will you be overcocking? If so, substitute the OEM version of the Q6600 and get an aftermarket cooler. Right now the Zalman CNPS9700-NT is probably the best deal.

Thats awesome...thank, that spec looks great!

Pretty much gotta look into the Overclocking for 2 reasons, 1 for pure enjoyment and 2 just to extend the life..

Only small question, will the graphics card be good for crysis , UT etc in full detail on a 1080 HD 40" screen? Just dont wanna skimp in that area if its worth pushing a few quid in extra...?

Excellent,

Thank you for your help, what ill do is work off your spec and just wait and decide what to do in terms of graphics card, at the moment im 50/50 if to wait or not, ill keep an eye on the graphics card forum and see whats happening with the revised GTS

Cheers Again!!

Ooh one other question in regards to OS?

Would it be best to go with Windows XP, Vista, or Vista 64?

This is one area im not sure where to put my cash!!

It's up to you, really. Most games get higher generates on XP due in part to better drivers. Vista allows you to run in DX10 rendering mode for fancier effects.
