Yeah really depends how long you plan to keep the CPU really, or what games you'll be playing. I have an i3 2100 and 6870 1GB and it's fine for most games on high or ultra settings depending on the title, but it's also bottle necked by the CPU in some titles aswell (not enough to be unplayable, but maybe slightly annoying).

If it's certainly going to be replaced within a short time period then go with the setup Bacon specced as you get a better graphics card which will last you longer, and the Pentium dual core should be enough to get decent frame rates (not too far from an i3) until you can afford to get an i5 CPU.

Will the pentium be able to last if i cannot upgrade the CPU for the year or so tho or would the I3 be better to fill for the 6 or so months if i cannot upgrade anything soon.

The Pentium will be fine till around 6 months. There isn't a massive gaming difference between the i3 and the Pentium though to be honest. i3 is clocked slightly higher and has HT but over than that.

There shouldn't be a huge difference in a majority of titles, but I did see a test of using an i3 2100 with HT on and off, and it did make some more CPU demanding games right on the limit of what may be classed as unplayable, and that is with the extra clock speed over the Pentium also. For example I certainly wouldn't wanna play BF3 multiplayer without the added HT of the i3, it's annoying enough when it dips down to 35FPS in heavy fighting I imagine it would drop to the high 20's to 30FPS with the Pentium.

True, problem with the i3 is it sits at no-mans land really. Not powerful enough to last future gaming since its only dual core and too expensive to be considered an easy right off.
