No, not Spanish lessons, but the fluffy stuff for carpets! :D

Happened to have the misfortune of going to Carpet Right today and noted that their super Royale underlay at 11mm thick was £8.99 m2. Ouch. We need circa 65m2

Jumped on the old GoogleNet and found Cloud 9, which I've heard and read marvellous things about, for 70m2, 12mm, coming in at around £245

eBay throws up some similar and even better deals.

Anyone got any grand experiences with a nice comfy underlay? :)

cloud 9 for sure we got this from here for our living room and bedrooms:

One thing you need to be aware of is how the underlay plus carpet will effect the coverage at the bottom of the doors. We ended up needing to take a few mm off the doors. I got told off my carper fitter and even the actual guy at SCS where I bought the carpets that the stuff I ordered was the best.

We've used PU foam underlay in other rooms - that is virtually identical to Cloud 9 - and it has by far worn the worst, and gives a strange sponginess that doesn't feel like what a floor should feel like.

Thanks. I have a cold house so the 56oz stuff looks good. Is 15mm not too thick and cause issues?

Be ready to plane the doors :p

I used the wool felt mainly due to the thermal properties. It's not going to revolutionise anything tbh, but it is effective at stopping a cold floor for a room above an internal garage.

I have suspended floor boards so crappy rubber stuff and 20mm of wood is all the insulation I have between the room and outside
