Speculated Crysis Performance - ATI & Nvidia Cards

Clearly guesses, everything drops by like 5,10,15 fps!

Plus speculative performance which will probably be way off anyways, what the guy is doing is "guessing" that the x2900xt(sorry extra x lol) will run faster than the 8800GTX, he doesnt know and is thus guessing.

I would love to see proper benchies but that will be a long while off

Quake4 running at 1280*1024 4xAA Ultra already uses 616MB of video RAM, I seriously suspect that games in the future will utilize 1GB of video RAM.

But Quake 4 at the ultra setting is a totally pointless and inefficient use of memory; all they did was pile in uncompressed textures and normal maps with virtually no gain in image quality.

True, but STALKER running 1280*1024 noAA Full Dynamic Lighting uses 514MB memory so it's not just Quake4 that uses a lot of memory.

How does Quake 4 use this much memory, aint it just because these games are unoptimized they use loads more memory? I mean even on Ultra I did not think the textures in Quake 4 were that brilliant tbh.

As flibby said, Ultra = uncompressed textures, I think compressing textures makes them 2-3 times smaller with very little difference in quality.
