Speculation Time!

lol :D

That thing is going to get raped sales wise by Sony and Nintendo. Why did Panasonic waste their time and money doing this?

My thoughts exactly, of all the things they could have done they made it exclusive to MMO's effectively making it a very niche product.

Now had they have signed up someone like Blizzard on board they would have more success, but either way this thing is going to fail unless they can get non-mmo games with established publishers on board.

You can see panasonics thinking, the market is huge in the browser/casual market. The trick though is connecting all those bods the enjoy casualy flicking a mouse on a laptop/computer they allready own in to buying a dedicated unit.

Hard to see that realy working, while many throw endless money on the micro transactions on these games (the money being there), for the most part that happens due to the self gratification factor, and slightly so, the perception in the eyes of others... the addictive hook! A far call from a more conscious call in to spending a couple of hundred quid on something.

Could work though, you look at the asian markets where handhelds are the thing, and the free/browser games rule supreme, something like panasonics machine could realy take off. Difference is out there, they go with whats practical, not how it is here in the west where these things make it when they become more of a lifestyle/popular device.

Hard to see apple, or the smart phone genre droping a peg to have panasonics device grab some.
