Am seriously considering ditching Virgin Media internet and getting a BT Line installed and going for Be Unlimited. My only concern is the speed:

I am 1.56km as the crow flies, about 2.5km otherwise, to the exchange.

Can anyone estimate the speed I'll get? Be reckon about 7meg but that's probably just a rough estimate, so if anyone else can say they live similar distances, then that'd be good?

Also when BT install a new line, do they run the cable from the telegraph pole?

Im no expert but line distances are very rough estimates. The most accurate way would be to get your line stats but obviously you cant as you dont have a BT line yet :p

If you have cable you'll have a BT phone line already installed it'll just need to be activated which costs something like £125? (i think)

Line reactivation doesn't cost anything if you already have a deactivated one installed.

I'm about 1KM as the crow flies and manage 17MB from Be. You should get a good 10-15MB depending on the line quality in your area.
