so...

what happens to the ones that don't do the speeds?
do they get sold as normal everyday processors on OC?
will this decrease the chances of getting a good clocking processor if we don't shell out the extra?

just curious like...

It has been clarified in the past and was something along the lines of:

- Retail processors are unopened separate stock completely unaffected by binning process
- Speed binned processors are taken from retail stock, tested and good ones put into pre-overclocked bundles
- "poor" binned processors are used in non-overclocked prebuilt PC's, or bundles certified to a lesser overclock.

Iirc, binned chips are bought in from selected known good clocking batches separately from those that go on general sale. As the binning process is time consuming this is reflected in the price of such chips. Basically, any oem or retail cpu that you purchase wont have been messed with.

Only bundles have the chance to have a speed binned cpu then? Glad i didn't take the chance on getting a non overclocked bundle then. I was thinking ill just overclock it my self but now i know there's a chance its going to have a poor overclocker in it.
