Speed Camera Detector

Right... I'm on the lookout for a speed camera detector... they seem to be very unclear on what they actually detect.

I want it to detect *all* speed trap methods... eg Fixed, Radar and Laser.

I also don't want to spend £400

Are there any detectors that pick up everything that don't cost the earth? Was ideally looking to spend £150-180.

Oh yea, I have a heated window screen... apparently I need an antenna also?

That seems perfect for what I need... free updates... seperate units... all the different types.

Are radar/laser detectors completely useless? Eg... the instance it picks it up you've probably already been caught?

The Police don't use radar guns anymore as far as I'm aware - certainly all the ones I've seen recently are laser based these days as they can get you from much further away.

Laser detection isn't a great deal of use because once the beam hits your car and the detector beeps they've got a reading. Laser doesn't scatter much, unlike radar.

They're ok, but the alerts are nowhere near as flexible as the Microfuzion and whilst its cheaper to buy initially, once you've paid for lifetime updates it works out more expensive.

The Talex is good value and the B2 probably the best of the higher end ones

re mobile radar and laser then it doesn't really matter , as said above radar is near non existant and laser is almost imposiible to detect im time

Er... isn't this thread talking about naughty activities. I thought it was the law that detectors are illegal? Only the GPS placements ones are okay?

Am i completely wrong?

Nope detectors are legal at the moment though this is likely to change in the future
