Speed Camera Question

Hi guys, does anyone know if its legal for police to set up a spot check speed camera in an area with signs for Average Speed Cameras? My google fu isnt strong today and thought the vast knowledge of Motors could help.

Er - precisely. They are guidelines and have no legal standing of any kind. Thus the police can put a camera and/or camera van wherever they want and any tickets issued are perfectly legal.

Sorry they were in a van (unmarked i think) and were well hidden from view

so there were signs up saying there were speed cameras, and you want to know if they are allowed to put a mobile speed detector van ?

(just so i'm reading it right as the answer would appear to be obvious)

There are SPECS average speed cameras there and the sign says "Average Speed Cameras" i was just wondering if theres maybe a loophole as the cameras they used were not average speed but the on the spot radar ones.
