Speed cameras - I got flashed in the face :(

Hey guys,

Here's what happened.

I'm driving up my usual road and I'm about 15-20 metres behind of a Vauxhall Astra which is traveling faster than me yet the speed camera on the opposite side of the road flashed me twice in the face. I don't get it.

Does anyone what will happen to me?

There were no white markings on the road that I was driving up, only on the opposite side of the road PLUS there was a car infront of me traveling a lot faster than I was. I was probably 10 MPH max over the limit.

I don't think they take frontal pictures only from behind unless thats changed !

Nah, I'd worry more about whether a cloud was going to fall and crush you

Those things are easy to set off in the 'wrong' direction.. and it doesn't matter to oncoming traffic.. and they recalibrate at regular intervals too, which gives a flash... just forget about it.

The gatsos don't flash you at the front, so it was probably zapping someone going the other way

If so, and it flashed at you from the front, it wasn't out to get you, don't worry

they have to discharge every so often i read somewhere. on here i think. its proabaly crap if thats the case.

what happens if it does flash you in the face, you panic and swerve etc and crash?

can you claim as you were distracted etc?

before Fox says anything i'm perfectly away you'd have to be a complete dick to crash from this but there's always the chance. we still have old people on the roads.

I've been zapped in the eyes out of nowhere in the dark before, I was blinded by a handheld camera hiding behind a white van for a few seconds just after I pulled out of my road :mad:

I was accelerating at the time and could have been doing maybe much as an indicated 35 in a 30..

I felt like getting out of the car to shout at them as they were hiding at 10.45pm on a quite road and dangerously blinding people..

I will repeat that.. Out of nowhere I got Blinded by some sort of bluey purply laser thing in my ******* eyes!!! Surely that has to be dangerous?

I panicked! I could have easily crashed if it was for a second or so longer as I had to move into the middle of the road to avoid the line of vehicles they were hiding by

I don't think the front facing ones flash, for this reason (IR?)

Think about what you're saying. People drive both ways on the roads. Every gatso on a single carriageway has a chance of flashing someone in the face when it photographs someone else's arse.

It must be said if you or i were stading by the side of the road shining a powerful torch at oncoming drivers i think we would be moved on quite quickly.
