I got caught the other day doing 46mph in a 40mph zone.

I was under the impression that they only prosecuted people who travel faster than 10% plus 2mph than the spped limit.

This equates to speeds of 47mph and over.

Should I just pay the fine or should I point this out to the cheif constable?

If 10% + 2mph is the limit, then prosecution should start above this, ie 47 plus.

I think I'll pay the fine....., but i've already sent a letter.

Do you think that I might get into worse trouble?

I will take it like a man........ but don't you feel that these fine are petty......

I know that speed kills etc etc, but these speed limits are too low, especially since cars these days can slow down a lot quicker than when the limits were introduced. ( i think 30 or 20 in certain places are essential though... to reduce deaths etc)

btw I was driving along a dual carriage way with NO houses around. It was the country side.

Shouldn't they be concentrating on the young boy racers travelling at 100+ mph, instead of someone doing a few mph over the limit???

Oh thanks for the info rotty.....

I must admit I am an evil serial criminal of the highest order ( according to some of the posts here ).... i have points on my licence........

I'm glad though that some of you share my point of view..

ps how do you add quotes to messages?

Why is speed to blame in the scotland case. I'm sure it's down to drink, drugs or just driver stupidity.

I've been driving for over 20 years and I have never crashed ( or caused anyone else to crash )

I think too that cameras cause more accidents. I personally prefer those signs that warn you that you're travelling over the speed limit. I respect them more, infact I'm sure that more people respect those things than speed cameras.

It's just another stealth tax imo.

well prison won't be a new thing for me...... last time i did 'bird' was for

'wearing a loud shirt in a built up area'

and

'having an offensive wife'

btw i'm joking

to the pc crew:

I have been driving along that particular road for years. I have always travelled at the same speed (around 45 to 46) because I always thought that the police didn't prosecute at that speed.

Obviously they've changed the camera detection speed- to try and get more revenue for the policemans ball - ffs

As for the person who's mum got a ticket doing 32 in a 30 zone.... i bet she just paid it and never questioned it.... i would have questioned it

I'll let you guys know the outcome of the letter.

Plus it's against human rights for the police to ask us to name who the driver of the car is.... in fact there's a case going through the european court right now, and if it goes through.... bang goes that system.

I think most of you are unaware of what human rights are all about.... yeah yeah stand on your box... but you guys are all sheep ... baaahhhhhhaaa

I just thought it would have been a nice topic. I think the police are too over zealous. What ever happened to a ticking over? More and more people are starting to dislike the police for reasons like this. Plus all the police I personally know all speed. In fact they all think ( the ones I know ) they're above the law.

i always thought that the cameras were there to save lives. Yes I am all for it. But what about the cameras being put up in areas where there has never been an accident. What's the point of that? IMO it's to get more money from us.

5mph over the limit is not fast. What I was really trying to say is that BIG BROTHER has changed that camera so that more people get fined. I have never seen or known of an accident at that place.

I have a friend who is a cheif constable. He told me a few years ago that I CAN DRIVE AT 10% + 2 MPH of the speed limit without any problem.

How come you guys are getting so arsi' about it. I suppose sum ov u fink that I deserve to go to jail or summink like that, however I'm gonna fight this one.

What's happened to the rebel overclockers of yesteryear. It used to be the cool ppl taking their machines to the limit.... basically cheating the big companies. Seems like some of youze wont partake in that.

One day we'll have implants forced on us. I bet most of you think that it's just fine ect ect. I for one feel that saturation point is coming soon.

And CRAIG I'm not worming my way out. Please re-read the original question if you need to. If you are one of those people who follows without questions then you're sad because there's such thing as human error (as well as computer errors).

Sid re read my origianl question. 5 or 6 mph over the limit is speeding YES, but it's not like doing 100mph in a 40 limit. I personally think that less than 10 mph over the limit should be ignored under certain circumstances. I'm sure that if it was a copper with a speed gun, he'd of let me off with a talking to

I was only asking for advice. I'm not saying I'm going to court. My letter is the battle..... (and yes i did mention it in there!!!)

...and intead of 'Yeah go for it dude !!!!...... it's NO NO NO you're wrong blah blah blah. Youre breaking the law BLAH BLAH BLAH... how sad. How come none of you are a bit more supportive?? NEGATIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE

What's wrong with you guys?..... maybe a couse in anger management or people realtions is on the cards.

hardcore..... i think you're right ... those days are gone... i just wish that I was informed about the change.

but do you think they did that because of the increase in revenue it would bring or to reduce deaths and accidents?

berger

what's your problem dude?

I was originally thinking that this fine went under the net, and that I could have got off with it.

I was asking whether I should write a letter to the cheif constable or not, that's it. THE END Asking for opinions.... why you so condecending ?

Why u talking about me being banned for?

You're probably sum youth kid jerk who thinks you know it all.

you'd better conquer the world before you loose your confidence.

when you leave mummy and daddies house and enter the real world you may post something like this.

So please only posts from REAL PEOPLE and not JERKS who're protected in their cotton wool world.

Look guys

I didn't come here for a fight, I came for advice. It's a shame a lot of you WIZE dudes think that your addiction to this site makes you wize. You should get out more!!

It seems this thread has turned into a slagging match.

It's sad to see how angry sum ov u r being. ANd those aint typos... it's slang !

How sad are some of the answers received here. 5 or 6 regulars vs moi isn't fair.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted in terms of what happens to the letter, or do you think I should accept guilt, pay the fine, take the 3 points and the increase in my car insurance cost etc etc without waiting?

and Craig.... women don't have implants.... they're just more intelegent than us men..... it's just that society has always kept them down using mens' strength....... but that's another thread.....

If you would prefer me not to post the outcome of the letter ..... I won't.

Thanks for the advice guys.

It was taken from the front, and I already am aware of the PACE thingy and about the machines needing to be regularly calibrated etc

I do note my spelling mistake, but I blame Bill Gates for that ( I hope you didn't write in red pen all over your screen ).

Hmm ....... I think I'll wait for their response from the letter. Gives me another week before I need to write the cheque.

I'm sure I'll get the fine and the three points, but credit for trying? or not !

Anyways I'll be back tomorrow to wind u lot up again......

Oh yes.... about the implants...... i didn't mean the silicone variety, I was meaning of the future when people will be implated with some kinda semiconductor device for identity purposes or for buying and selling ( yes rev 13). I won't be first in the queue for that one.
