"Speed Limit for Air Quality"

60MPH over 70MPH is the difference between 28MPG and 25MPG for me - so it does make a difference over a long run.
Can't say I've sat at 70 for a long time now - I find it much more relaxing following stuff pottering along in lane 1 with an audiobook.

Old age is creeping up on me :p

It says they are to be legally fitted yes, but it does not state the speed from what I can see?

There is only one speed - it's set to 90kmh. You don't get to choose.

A truck with a GVW of more than 3500kg has a 90kmh limiter fitted. It's that simple.

You're expending more electrons, and a good chunk of those are generated from fossil fuels.

Absolutely - I’ve already acknowledged that - and these limits are for air quality at point of use, so that argument does not apply to EVs because the emissions they undoubtedly do cause are a long way away.

Does your car have rubber tyres? If so it's still causing plenty of pollution. You then also have brake dust polution.
Don't fall for the EV equals completely green.

But that’s not what we’re discussing here. And EVs have harder low rolling resistance tyres for fuel economy and they use their brakes significantly less because of regenerative braking so your argument is still exceptionally weak.

A pre 1992 truck will have a 60mph limiter.
Nope, those that had limiters were set to 56mph as well.

I so recal driving an 87 E plate Mercedes 17 ton rigid back in the day that had no limiter it would happily do 80+ - although it was a wreck we used to fight over who got it for a shift because it was unlimited.

fairly sure limiters became mandatory around 1989 but can’t find a confirmation.

It's not? I thought were talking about lowering the speed limit to increase air quality, my mistake.

Not air quality from brake dust or tyre particles. Exhaust emissions. From ICE vehicles in the local area. Or did you not read the OP? It’s about NOx emissions.

And yet people are also talking about heavy goods limiters. You carry on thinking EVs are the bees knees after all your saving the planet.

You can always tell when someone has lost an argument when they start posting insults.
What argument were we having again?

You can always tell the overly defensive one when they take offence at an obvious play on words.

I'd imagine that EVs running at 60, save more battery than at 70, so better for the environment too, that electricity has to be made somewhere.

Yes. That’s a valid argument. The difference between 60 and 70mph in most EVs is massive. Maybe 25% less efficient. And that argument will just get you a blanket 60mph speed limit rather than a localised one. I wouldn’t use that argument again in case someone wakes up to that particular fact.

Oh no! Someone playing passive/aggressive mind games. Does that rubbish actually work?
