Speed Limit, rural section, 30MPH, dumb question.

Ok, got my flame suit on but I need to ask the question.

I regularly drive down the A667 near Bury. I am 99% sure of the speed limit down the relevant sections, 30MPH for 80% of the way and 40MPH for 20% roughly.

Now when I'm sat at 30mph (just over on the speedometer) I regularly get people flashing, tailgating and generally seeming like I'm holding them up from the most important thing in the world.

It happens so much that I am actually beginning to doubt myself about the speed limit in the different areas.

This pic shows what I tend to do. And it is usually from point A to the end of that arrow (just before Outwood Rd) that people flash/tailgate etc. The thing is, there are no houses on that stretch, it looks like it could be any other NSL section. There are no additional signs and it is fully lighted, hence my interpretation of being a 30MPH zone.

This is the rural section that it happens on.

And here are the only speed limit signs on the entire section (barring a 30MPH sign and speed camera warning back before point A on the map).

Now I realise I am asking a stupid question :( but wanted to be totally sure.

Indeed bleed. there are none of those signs at any point :) that 30MPH lasts all the way to Whitefield.

I guess it happens a lot as I usually drive down there either early on, 6-7am and later on at night when it is quiet and people think its a time variable speed limit.

Oh, I always forget as well, on that rural ish section there is an automated speed alert camera. Like I said, it was a dumb question but wanted to double check I wasn't being dense.

I think you're giving them too much credit.

They're just impatient ****s who live locally who know you can drive down there at 60 without getting caught by a speed camera and so do so.

Hehe :) Most likely, I'm relatively new to that area myself but not seen any Police there at all in my 2 months.

‎Police cars here are only factory tuned. If you can do better than 180K they can't catch you, so they don't even try. ;)

Nah, looks like you're in the right.

There's a similar (but smaller section) near me. Collinbourne Ducis and Collinbourne Kingston are both linked by a short 40 zone but pretty much 30. But in recent times i've been over taken in the 30 sections whilst doing the speed limit, it's quite jarring when that happens. People all seem to do 40ish constantly, even though there is an occasioanly working speed camera and sometimes a hand held speed gun on the road.

I imagine it was a 60 not long ago and someone in there great wisdom made it a 30.... Probably never even driven on that section but its a thing councils like to do.

As a result people will still "feel" the road will be faster plus speedos in cars are hugely inaccurate always read 30 but actually doing 26.....

Once you pass the "40" signs it is a 40mph limit until you pass another pair of signs changing the speed limit, not exactly sure what your getting confused about O.o

As im bored I just followed your route on Google streetview, your doing nothing wrong.
