Me and 2 mates are planning on sharing my t'internet using a wireless router. The read the sticky posts regarding these but found a few things difficult to understand.

The kit we will need just to share the net is;
1 x wireless router
3 x wireless cards for our laptops

I just plug the modem into the wireless router and set it up, then setup our laptops with the wireless cards and we can access it? Is it more complicated than that?

Also if we're all accessing t'internet at the same time then will it slow the speed down? Say if I'm playing an online game and then someone else starts downloading will it slow my connection down?

Pretty much. You should set up security (encryption etc) too, but that's about it.

Yeah, of course it will - your connection isn't going to magically become faster. But that's not unique to wireless...

Is it a dramatic decrease in speed? I can only get 512k broadband where I am, will this make it ***** for gaming?

Stop swearing. Last warning.

Well we'll give it a try and if it affects perfomance too much they'll have to get they're own connection between them. Cheers for your help mate.
