HI I've just got SKY ADSL2 so its still in training mode my router stats are

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.0 dB 26.1 dB
Noise Margin 5.6 dB 16.1 dB

What speeds should i expect once its settled down ?

Probably not any more, I have similar stats, this is after 6 months.

With that attenuation I would expect about 9-10mb
I connect at 10.2mb with a attenuation of 42.

Your SNR looks quite low so you might not get much more speed. This could be because of a bad line or wiring,
Is the router plugged directly in to the master socket and have you tried using the test socket?

When you say you are on ADSL2 do you mean this exactly or do you mean ADSL2+?

What router is it?

Sorry with sky and a Sagem router , guessing its the master one in the living room and one in the bedroom which is just an extension of the living room one

But crap speeds considering flat is 1 year old and not that far from exchange

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've also just had Sky broadband installed on their Sky Unlimited LLU package with the Sagem 2504N router.

Still currently in the training mode aswell having only been activated 2 days ago, and also wondering what speed I can expect. I use to get 14-16Mb with previous ISP.

Sky router stats are:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6142 kbps 797 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.0 dB 9.6 dB
Noise Margin 13.7 dB 15.8 dB

Is the master socket the NTE5 as shown here? :- http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm

Tried removing the front half and plugging into the test port behind?
If so post your stats.

At 20dB Line att. about 20Mbit....You have some noise margin to lose to increase the speed but you wont gain that much from 6Mbit. Maybe the "training" will help, not sure.

Thanks for reply.

The router was showing downstream of 4Mb yesterday and is now showing as 6Mb today. I hope it keeps on the increase.

I was told by Sky that my connection would be a minimum of 11.5Mb with a max of 18Mb

20 dB should be good for a 20 Mbit connection but you would expect a higher SNR figure. Maybe it's just a bad line. Time will tell.

As for the OP with 43 attenuation try disconnecting the extension and see if it affects that SNR figure. You might want to do this after the 10 days training though as repeatedly disconnecting can be seen as line instability by the DLM.

Its why i love my XILO connection on TalkTalk LLU, no line training and no automatic control DLM messing your connection up. ;)

Just a quick update heres my stats now

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7007 kbps 797 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.0 dB 26.3 dB
Noise Margin 6.9 dB 15.6 dB

Pretty happy with that , been stable for over 24 hours as well!

According to the graphs you can expect 8mbit max from 43dB so 7mbit is ok, you probably get more on a 6dB noise margin so a resync during the middle of the day should get you the max speed. Might be best leaving it if its "training" though until thte 10 days period is up.

Yep, best login to the routers control pages and reboot from there, dont just power off and power on else the exchange will think its a line fault potentially and could raise your target noise margin.
