Hi guys,

Trying to use the latest version of Speedfan with Windows 7 64bit.

I load it up, it detects everything and then hangs.

Any ideas?

mines running fine without the compat mode here on win7 64 bit
but if crashing then try what the others have said n see if it sorts it

edit
could be a piece of hardware it doesnt like that making it crash, just a thought.
im running v 4.39 of speedfan which is latest version i think

Same here, 4.39 works a treat! retail version of Win764. Without admin privileges it can't read the HDs though..

Get the latest beta, I am on 4.4 Beta5 and it works flawlessly on WIn7 x64. I do not use UAC though and with UAC enabled even with admin rights to Speedfan I get no SMART reporting at all so don't use UAC.

GA boards are fine, I have an EP45-UD3P but you need to know some boards only allow certain fan headers to be Voltage controlled, the others are PWM - mine for example only allows one header to be voltage regulated so software can control it, the CPU fan can also be voltage controlled but only when set to Voltage control in BIOS else it's set to PWM mode.

Your mobo is likely the same.

My fans all run at 50% anyway though so everything is quiet.

Still got this problem despite a complete renistall of Windows. Also happens on my other system.

Both machines run an IP35 Pro - coincidence?

What version of speedfan are you running?

Also if you click on the system tray icon as it loads you can see at which probe it gets stuck on.

It may possibly be a compatibility issue with your board. My system hangs when i try and use speedfan and after googling i realised it happens to everyone with the same DFI motherboard. Is there any Abit utility which will give you the information you need?
