Speeding cavalier

Clearly mean 42mph, if the system had actually recorded 420mph surely it would have failed the 'if under x mph, then NIP' rules engine or whatever..

How many miles do you think a 12 year old cav taxi has on it? Hoep its properly maintained...

Not many, probably just a cheapskate minicabber buying a banger out of the paper to use as a cab.

Cab pricing structures annoy me. If you fly, you pay more for First Class. If you travel by train, you do also.

Yet if you go for a taxi you pay the same regardless of whether you get picked up by a 56 plate E320 CDI or a scabby old banger...

Where is the sense in that?

if he was going 420mph the speed camera wouldnt of got him, aint they got a top speed catchyness of about 180mph? i remember watching it on top gear

Too true, yet this is the way thing's are id say 80% of cab users are those going on a night out or returning home from a night out totally smashed out there faces and couldn't care less about the cabs condition as long as the windows work so they can puke out them :p.

not to mention the fact that top gear prooved if you can do 180 odd past a gatso by the time the 2nd photo is taken you're out of shot

definitely a typo ;)

I don't get that whole argument, surely if you've disappeared from the second shot the only options are

a) you have managed to build a teleporter
b) you were doing over 180mph

I know which they'd go for :p

they know you're speeding

but they have no photographic proof to take you to court over it. all they have is a photo of you on some gatso lines and a photo of an empty road. this prooves nothing so they legally cant proove you were speeding

and how many roads with gatso's on can you do 180 + mph,

its not exactly a common problem ;)

Hmm, I've got a feeling that the speed may actually be a little bit lower.

180 mph = 88 yards/second

I suppose it all depends on the time difference between the two photos and the camera's viewing distance, which varies depending on the speed limit of the road the cameras is on. I'll try and work it out myself :)

well in that vein two photos taken with you in different positions on the road doesn't technically prove anything either - it's only in the fact that the timing has been deemed to be correct, that it becomes evidence. So by the same logic therefore the only way you could have left the second photo if the timing is acurate enough for evidence is that you were speeding...

you could be right

im guessing at the speed as the article on top gear was years back and dont recall the exact number. 180 was my best guess :)

thats why they they usually keep records of calibration so they can proove it if required. They did sometimes lapse about this, but then the internet sites that specialize in helping people get off these type of cases got wind, and everybody started asking for the calibration certificate to get out of it

only takes 3 or 4 people to get off because the police were lapse in keeping the gatso calibrated for them to book their ideas up ;)
