Back in August I was pulled over by the Police for doing 77mph on a 60mph single carriage way. A few weeks later I received a letter from the Police issuing a £100 fine. I paid this on-line and thought I was done with it.
Last week I noticed the £100 had been refunded onto my account, I didn't question why and just assumed they may have done a clerical error which would have forced them to refund the speeding fine (i.e. incorrectly calibrated camera).
Today I've come home to a Court Summons letter in relation to the above incident. I'm not required to attend the hearing however I'm confused as to how this has come around?
I've not received any other correspondance and I'm totally baffled as to why this is now being taken to court after I've paid the original fine? Looking on CPS website, I was below the summons limit
I would like to speak to someone as why this has come about. The only details I have is a case ref number and the phone number of said court, are they likely to help?
