I went away through the week to visit a friend(now girlfriend) and on the way there i went through a camera i think and i think i might have been done :(

If i get a fine do i have to ring my insurance company up and tell them that ive got one or do i just tell them on my next renewal??

You don't over here, but as you keep telling us, 'it's different in Australia'.

So, who knows. Ask an Australian.

Im just having a check, Insurance still works the same down here as it does there most ways :)

Read your policy and see what the terms are - if it says nothing about letting them know then don't do it

edit: though you will have to tell them next time round if they ask of course

I had to tell mine at renewal although i forgot as I let it automatically renew. The next year I told them and got back charged £160 for not letting them know the previous year.

If you get points and dont tell them then your insurance company wont pay out in the event of a claim. You have to tell them of any changes that may effect the pricing of your policy. They will see you as a greater risk and will bump up cost of policy. Its like modding your car. Not worth the risk really

The small print on Admirals policy was that they had to be told at time of renewal, It didnt mention telling them when you got them.

Why take the chance on your insurance being invalid, if it turns out it is your paying money for nothing.. give them a call

I got points a few weeks before i got my policy, left them off then called up 2 weeks later to tell them, said the date of the offense was prior to the policy start but id been disputing them, they put them on and said they'd be taken into account at renewal time so i didnt have to pay more then.. win!
