Was given a speeding ticket 30 in 20. Via post. I was stopped on the day.

Now I don't think I was doing 30.

The police says the gun clocked me at 30 and has 2 days until it needs to be recalibrate again.
Anyway the issue I have.
The road had two names, depending on which part of the you are on. So left end to middle is called A while middle to right is call b.

I shall call them a and b.

The speed ticket says I was speeding on b and stopped on b, however it all happened on a.

In theory I was not speeding on the road section called b.

Had to edit it as typo and half asleep.

nah screw it . write a letter to them asking why are you penalising people from doing 10 mph over the speed limit where ever when the police still have still not caught the suspect who stole your (insert random item here) or solved last weeks burgllary

see what happens . either that or you can just suck up and go on one of those 'speed awareness courses' and dodge the 3 points on the license

It's sloppy paperwork like that which gives the likes of motoring lawyer to the stars, Nick Freeman their opportunities to get them off. He openly admits it is mainly the sloppy casework of the police versus his forensic examination of it, and well presented argument against its inaccuracy that supportshis lifestyle. Not some black magic.

You're obviously no dummy, if you feel lucky defend yourself in court. It might be interesting even if you lose and it costs you a few bob.

Good luck.

i always remember someone telling me that you can challege the speeding fine if there were exceptional circumstances (like medical emergency or something)

can you not tell them that your wife was in labour or you were being chased by a swarm or bees? :D

Alex ferguson once got away with a ban for doing 110mph on motorway because he said he was amount to mess himself as he had food poisoning. not sure if he proved his point during his questioning..
if you truly do not think you were doing 30 and you think the paperwork is wrong then argue it. it's high stakes tho if you lose.

personally I would take theb3 points (I think 30 in a 20 is too big a percentage to get a driving course but maybe the requirements have slackened)

@Mrwong
This was your post on another thread.
People don't like the police for their attitude or not bothering to investigate.

Police are just damn lazy, this day and age they look like spotty teens.
They become revenue rasing inspectors.

So now the police investigated your speed with a speed gun you don't like the fact "they were doing their job"

Can't have it both ways.

As 20 zones are mostly for schools, you monster.

Road might technically all be one name as well as one bit being another name - there are roads like that around here I'm not entirely sure as to the why - if you get legal paperwork the whole stretch is under the name of one bit. Or more likely they were a little lazy.

Personally hate 20 limits, or at least strictly enforced ones, as most vehicles I drive really take some concentration to be that accurate on speed below 30 without spending a lot of time looking at the speedo rather than what is around you! especially my pickup there just isn't that level of articulation on the accelerator pedal at low speed without putting it into low range.

London is 20 mph by default now, 30 is by exception only.

Most 20mph zones are not enforceable UNLESS the council applied to the secretary of state apparently to have it made law! Many are merely advisory which are not enforceable!

You should however be extra careful in these zones as many are near schools, hospitals & residential care homes. So take great care at all times but some are for sure on roads just for the sake of it.....!

Well there's an interesting possible loophole. If the council did apply for enforcement of a 20 MPH limit, how did they identify the road? By the correct name? ...
