Using FF4/5 (they're virtually the same) with Yet Another Smooth Scrolling, and while pages load fast and render fast, they're rather choppy to scroll on. Almost like it needs Vsync.

FF3.5 was never like this.

Have tried disabling IPv6 with no luck. It's on a netbook so YASS is a must.

Might be down to the measly 8mb of vRAM this netbook has.

Cheers

gfx ram is short, but I've found that netbooks just don't have the graphics horsepower to render pages on later firefox versions well. Chrome appears a little bit better...

also, less extensions loaded the better. Some are worse than others too. Experiment and see if any extensions are causing you problems...

Firefox 5 is fast. A speed up from 4.

As for choopyness, its probably your cpu, and or extensions.

I had a P4 up untill about 2 weeks ago, and firefox was a little choopy. Iv upgraded to a c2d and its is far spritely now.

I run my firefox as default and with no addons purely for peformance and security reasons etc....

Also update your gpu drivers, otherwise the hardware acceleraton gets turned off by default.

4 and 5 use hardware rendering much more, have support for a lot of new things in css3 etc. and a generally much harder on graphics hardware. I've personally never really been impressed with netbooks and t'internet browsing as the sites and stuff I do they never cope very well with. Are you on XP? Hardware rendering on XP is pretty poor!
