Due to the GPU client coming out, my output has gone up a good 2k more a day, consequently I didn't notice passing Pilgrim57 and Freefaller - my apologies to you both.

However, within the next week the following people had better pack their bags:

deej
ShaunBrewer
feriso
kinnison

PARP!

PhillyDee and I seem to be on an even level PPD wise at the moment, so you guys had better be prepared to drop two places :p

I am looking forward to seeing what my output has been this week :D

nice parpage - i thought i had half a chance climbing above u in the single crunchers league but i guess now!!

only 9.2 months till u pass me!

Only :p

Its quite refreshing to see now that you can get a decent amount of output for a reasonable price :) 4.5k PPD with an OcUK 8800GT - bargin! :)

Nice work Yeggstry!

You're probably gonna pass me as well. I got up to 7k a day this week with the help of the GPU client... sadly, my dad has figured out that I leave my computer running 24/7 and is going berserk about the electricity bills, particularly when he noticed the warm region of my room around the PC and learned that it had a quad-core CPU :p

I'm under strict instructions to turn it "not on" at night, and "when I'm not using it" (although I'm sure that's open to interpretation :p) So it looks like I'll be Folding something like 16/7 and dropping to something like 4kppd. I am not amused.

I must admit I haven't seen an electricity bill since I started on this at the beginning of April (I pay the bills quarterly), but I'd imagine it will be quite a bit :o I'll have to rethink folding if it costs too much, I can understand your dad's orders.

thats my situation at the moment i moved back home for a year after i finished my undergrad degree, my dad saw the bill had gone up by about £100 a month (not all my fault) and told me to be more efficient so i cant really fold untill october when i move out again

Card meter for the win. I haven't seen a leccy bill for over 4 years.

Tho I see the price of mine is going up another 14% at the end of the month. Will add a good couple of quid to my weekly top-up.

Yeah, I can't really complain... must cost a quid a day to keep it running and I wouldn't be willing to pay it myself, so can't ask him to subsidise my folding habits! Still getting more points with the GPU client than I ever got before!

Mattus and Yeggstry have been prominent in my rear view so I've had to up the ante a little to keep pace. Since Mattus is going to be dropping points looks like I can hold out for a couple of months at least.

In terms of electricity, I've rationed myself about 250watts. Which, after some magical maths, equates to about £230/year running costs 24/7. Power efficiency was a big consideration when I built my current folding box, which consumes 140watts full load so I have some headroom. The only concern I have is whether the 380watt PSU will handle a 9800/4850. In terms of numbers it should (380w-140w=240w remaining for a GPU) but it doesn't always work in reality.

Gonna guess it's an Antec 380? Good PSU but I suspect you might have problems, particularly if the PSU's fairly old. My OCZ 420 wouldn't handle gaming on my 8800GT simultaneously with folding on the overclocked quad - had to upgrade to the Corsair 520. Always nice to have some capacity spare, anyway - plus, the PSU loses efficiency as it approaches its maximum power, so it might be cheaper in the long run to upgrade.

Good guess, Antec Earthwatts 80+ PSU I got included with the case. I only got it a couple of months ago (you can tell by my ppd spiking upwards on EOC stats when I bought it lol)

It might be okay, I have an [email protected] with 2GB RAM, 2 HDs, 8800GT folding (CPU + GPU) on a 430w Tagan PSU which only pulls 200w from the wall. It's the fact the antec case/psu bundle was cheap (<£50 new) and in my experience there's no such thing as a free lunch. I do NOT want the PSU to go bang in a folding rig with a Q6600 + 8800/4850, which might force me to go for a better PSU. And maybe a better case at the same time (thinking of a full tower).

All said, I'm supposed to be tightening the purse strings at the moment because I just bought a new car so I might just end up getting a 8800GT on the cheap. Worse case scenario an extra 4500ppd - that ain't too shabby. :D

Apology accepted, although I'm still try to get the footprints out after being stomped twice in quick succession by you & PhillyDee.
I hadn't parped Freefaller so nice to see him & let us know he's still on the fringe.

 Don't you know this is the most expensive way to pay for leccy & the discount for high usage takes longer to kick in! Have a look at uswitch & I'm sure you'd save a couple of quid a week rather than have to fork it out. Some Co.'s will bill you monthly or there's DD

And that's them finished off, STOMPIO! :D

I'm going on a stag weekend early Friday (to Munich :D), and no doubt the other half will turn my PC off, so that will give the low 50s to high 40s a little bit of breathing space - only for a couple of days though :)

We only have the one leccy company over here, and our card meters are the same price as direct debit payments (the one benefit of having a monopoly is that the regulators can force them to do so).
