Speeding up my laptop?

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a problem with the wireless adaptor on my hp g6000 laptop. I sent it to hp and they have fixed it and returned it two days after I sent it.

Now I'd just like to speed it up. It came with windows vista pre installed and whenever it asks for me to give permission to an action it takes an age to do so and I have a blank screen for a short while, whilst getting a high pitched noise. Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks in advance

if you put UAC in silent mode then it won't ask you anymore, and thus, you won't have the delay or the screen-blanking problem any more.

otherwise (i don't reccommed this) you could disable UAC entirely.

what i've currently done to my lappy is first, following a tweak guide on the internet, think it was 99 tweaks for vista or something and that freed up a lot of my resources and keeps my laptop from heating for no reason. Then doing weekly disk cleanups(right-click the hard drive and properties), then cc cleaner and finally use auslogic disk degfrag.

CC cleaner and Auslogic Disk Defrag are both free to use if you type it in google.

Doesnt take more than 10mins to do this every week, and my laptop has been running nice :)
