Hi all

Clocked speeding at 54mph in a 40mph road.

No excuses but the road itself no one ever drives 40mph or under on. Three cars in front of me before the camera were definitely going quicker than 40 too. But the speed limits are what they are so im not trying to excuse myself.

It says to meet the safety awareness course criteria i have to have been going no more than 53mph in a 40 zone. So im 1mph out.

Never been clocked speeding in 15+ years of driving so im not sure whats involved now? Bit worried about it. :/

So the safety awareness course is to go on instead of paying the fine and 3 points as long as you're in the threshold?

As I was over the threshold, annoyingly by just 1mph albeit, I would have to take the 3 points and £100 penalty as well?

I've read a couple of articles about people's insurance premiums rising even if they have been on a safety awareness course.

My insurance renewal is due next week.

As I was over 1mph on the SAC threshold I wonder if it's worth writing a small letter to ask if I can go on the SAC ?

Also no return envelope was provided as far as I can tell so presumably I just have to get sort that out myself - is it worth posting recorded delivery or just 1st class?
