SpeedLink Medusa 5.1 Headset

I've just bought the medusa 5.1 headset i have gigabyte ds3 mobo with onboard sound (i think its 7.1). When i listen to music it sounds distortedand and i get an annoying hissing sound usually when the center volume is turned up. would it be worth buying a soundcard and which one would be reasonable?

Sounds like interferance, this headset is prone to it.

I got interferance from my WiFi, and my mobile.

I had to plug my WiFi into a different mains outlet and move it away from the PC a bit.
