Speedplay pedals

Bought some shoes they take 4 bolt cleats, turns out these are speedplay? pedals which seem quite expensive, can I buy an adapter to fit SPD cleats?

You will either need to return them or buy a speedplay set of pedals (~£70) as I don't know of any adaptors for that.

4 bolt shoes are pretty rare - Speedplay is IMO by far the best pedal system out there so if you like the shoes I'd get a set of pedals

Pretty sure you can only get adapters to get speed play cleats onto 3 bolt shoes, not the other way round.

Why? I forgot to ask a guy I rode with on saturday about his. He still managed to not be able to unclip in time and fell off sideways coming out of a feed stop.

Adjustable float so you can tune it to what you want. Double sided so easier to clip into and also stack height is lower than other pedals. Finally you have the best clearance when leaning if that's an issue for you (maybe only for crits).
