Speedstep Issue

I have a Q6600 (G0 stepping) and I've overclocked it to 3.10GHz (so far, I plan to get to >3.40). On a Asus P5K mobo.

I've disabled speedstep, C1E and CPU TM function.

However still when I'm in windows the clock stays at 2.8GHz.

Any ideas why?

This is all in bios by the way.

I know what I'm doing but this has confused me :S

What's the multiplier saying in cpu-z?

Yeah, have you inadvertently lowered the multi?

check your multi, and why turn off CPU TM function.

I've not changed the multiplier. It says x9 in cpuz.

9x multiplier is stock in the q6600, you need to up the fsb, mine is at 334mhz, so 3ghz.

Is 310mhz what you have set in the bios?

Yeah, fsb is at 310 and I'm getting 2.8 frequency in windows.

310 X 9 = 2790.

You need to up the FSB further.

Haha, got ya. I can't believe I overlooked that. The way my old BIOS worked on this board was so different.

heh, what did you think you'd set the FSB to?

345 would be your 3.1ghz you're after.
