Howdy.

Built my new pc yesterday, all great booted first time etc.

Now I'm fiddling about with my settings a bit, trying to overclock my 2500k on my asrock z86, it seems to overclock ok, temps seem OK, but for some reason, even with speedstep OFF its still appearing on when I go a stress test and check cpu-z. Starts on 1500mhz before the test then goes up to 4600mhz. Also in windows its showing the standard mhz.

Is there another setting I'm missing regarding speedstep? :s

Yeah I know that's the point of speedstep, the thing is in bios it's disabled! Looks like it's still on to me in windows? :s

I'll have a look later, while I'm on the subject of speedstep is there really any real point in turning it off? If it saves power + energy, for the sake of it not being at it's full speed while your not doing anything, does it make any real difference to performance?

I'll leave it on then, I'm guessing as long as I can see the CPU it set to the speed it says in the bios it's definitely running at that?
