straight to the point
what are the advantages and disadvantages of speedstep
if i disable speed step, what will i get out of it over it being enabled?
any input is welcome
oh the mobo is a P5K-SE P35 chipset and an e8200 @ 3.48 (435x9)

speed step basically just lowers the speed of your intel cpu when its not getting used a lot, so its not constantly running at 3.48GHz when theres no need for it.

it will reduce power consumption, extend the life of the processor and you wont notice a thing, so why disable it.? :)

windows seems to load up faster with speedstep off. Just feels snappier, if you dont have great cooling the speedstep is good yet im not sure how great it is for ppl running massive clocks as the voltage jumping around may not be that stable.

Yeah because speedstep will be limiting your windows boot time and not the single hard disk drive running at a fraction of the speed of the other components ;)

Leave speedstep on, theres no disadvantages.

It does become usable faster on the desktop running with speedstep off. I know my hdd is a limiting factor but the point is its faster with it off.
