speedtest.com can't seem to handle anything over 250mbps so if anyone knows one that will go to something like 1gbps that would be great :)

Just trying to fault find some internet speeds and with speedtest its not helping :)

Gonna have a hard time finding something that can sustain those kinda speeds - even my gigabit hosted dedicated server struggled to sustain much over 400Mbit/s for most useage (possibly partly IO bottlenecks as it didn't have the fastest HDDs ever) and over any distance of public internet quickly dropped back to around 80-100MBit/s.

Yea I thought as much. I'm trying to test network speed for internet access. I know we have 10gb out, and my device i'm testing is attached through 10gb fibre to the firewall - need to test if the firewall is up to the test

Its a Server 2008 x64 based TGM firewall.

Hmm interesting, if you don't mind me asking what sort of cost are you looking at for TGM? And what sort of hardware are you using to try and guarantee 10Gbps worth of Firewall throughput?

As a point of comparison, I don't have a Cisco price list to hand but for a Checkpoint box capable of shipping 10Gbps of firewall throughput your looking at around $56-60k.
Cisco wise you'd be looking at a ASA5585-X with a SSP20 or SSP40 to get to 10Gbps Firewall throughput, I can't see them been any cheaper than the CP box if I'm honest.

I'm sure Speedtest.net can go up to 750mbps. Got that on Greenwich uni's connection, at 4AM though. London server.

Or you could try Usenet. You might need to connect to two or three servers simultaneously. Can do this easily in newsleecher. You'll need a fast hard disk though.

Dual i7 Xeons with 32gb ram, just something I had spare to test - before we do possibly have to look at the cisco route.
