I belive there is a DMT tool which can set the target SNR and sync rates etc... I have the 585iV6 but it does not seem to recognise it....

Connects to the IP but then i get the following

Error: Can not identify modemtype

Im running the latest firmware for the router R619

Anyone using this sucessfully? Any help?

Just realised that, just went for the latest version or so i thought... :(

It connects now but on the graph section it comes up with firmware specific error...Which firmware seems to be the best? Everyone using? And does it work with the prog correctly?

I was (until the router died today) using it with my v5 router, and most recent firmware. As far as I was aware, it did work on the v6 series too?

What does it say on the screen when it connects? Screenshot maybe?

It will connect now, but on the two graphs for download speeds and upload etc, i get the following:

adsl.JPG

hmm no idea. I know there is/was a large thread on the ADSLGuide forums which had loads of info in it.

Your firmware appears to be newer than whats posted on the UK Speedtouch site, so I would hazard a guess to say that the program doesn't support it? Are you using the newer one for any specific reason other than its the most upto date?

Im now using the correct version of the dmt tool. I found the most recent from an article in these forums. I am happy to role back, but thought the latest may have resolved any issues. any link to the adslguide forum topic at all, dont worry if not i will try and search around. Does the desired rate slider work with this router at all?

Here is the thread from ADSLGuide. I've just ordered a v6, which should be here tomorrow so I will see if I can post a screenshot of what you're looking for then.

Here is my v6 running quite happily with DMT using the latest firmware from the Speedtouch UK website. I've indicated in red which bit I change to get best results.

Blimey, all your upper tones wiped out. That's rreally pushing it to the edge :p

Tell me about it, by default the router syncs just over 2 meg.

What's annoying is that during the 10day start of MAX I could sync well over 3meg, upto 4 meg without any need for "tweaking" it :(

WOAH - I set mine to 00=08 and I sync'ed at 8Mbit :D - far better than my current 4.5Mbit (Attn 53dB). Unfortunately, the SNR was 1dB and I was getting about 6000 FEC errors per second.

Anyone know how bad FEC errors are? I usually get looooads of FEC errors (100,000+) but VERY FEW errored seconds, CRC or HEC (usually about 300 in about 3 days).

I don't get it. I know CRC's are pretty bad to get as are HEC, but what about FEC? In need of a bit of help on the tweaking side of things here.

Clicky for piccy

I set my 00=64 and now get 5.5Mbps (data, not sync actually) and SNR of 6.5dB. What exactly did I change? :p.

Running the latest 6.1.9.6 F/W btw (not the latest UK firmware, which is 6.1.4.3).

What were your stats before? sync rate + noise margin.

The higher the number = lower sync rate but more noise margin to spare, which is good for stability. Using the slider is the same as putting in the values manually. Lower the slider for higher sync [more speed] at the expense of a low noise margin [disconnects]. Push the slider up will lower the sync [lower speeds] but increase your noise margin [stability], which helps combat noise spikes which might otherwise disconnect you with a lower noise margin.

Ah, so it's a manual SNR tweak - oh well nothing new then as I was using the slider before for a 10dB SNRM. That was syncing me at about 4.5Mbps with very little FEC, HEC, CRC and Errored Seconds (isn't this just CRC anyway?).

I've now manually set 00=72 to try and reduce the FEC - which it has done. I've got a 5.5Mbps sync now so I'm happy.

Still, won't have to worry about this soon as I'll be moving (hopefully) into a cable area and will just get Telewest 10MB and be done with this.
