Spell checker stopped working in Firefox.

  • Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Check my spelling as I type should be ticked
  • make sure any specific text boxes are set to be checked (right click -> Spell check this field should be ticked)
  • install the British English dictionary
 
You can fix this problem by downloading the plugin FFSpell. this turns the spell checker back on in TinyMCE. Its easy to install and does not need any configuration. you just need to upload the fileinto the plugin directory and get it activated from the Plugins panel.
 
I have it ticked in advanced but it still wont work, and your dicionary link wont work.

Have you got a direct link for ffspell? I cant seem to track it down.
 
You need to right click it and save target as, but either way the complete list of dictionaries is here, and this is a link to FFSpell.

It does stop working sometimes usually mentions that it is incompatible or something, just restart Firefox or install the dictionary again. Or apply a compatibility update.
 
Funny thing is it worked great on vista x64 and xp on my laptop, i wonder if another plugin is borking it?
 
Its stopped working for me either, got all the options ticked, dictionaries installed etc. :(
