Set up my new upgraded OVH server Saturday with Plesk and OpenVPN, then started having problems with MS Outlook 365, my mail account would connect but not download mail, Thunderbird worked perfectly with the same settings.
Had a bout of insomnia and woke at 1am Sunday, I then decided to get my teeth into the problems, I tried Revo Uninstaller, but the issue with Outlook persisted, I eventually went as far as manually deleting pretty much everything that was Office 365 related. Outlook was now working properly after yet another fresh install, then had a look at updates to see that an update had kept being downloaded and installed repeatedly over the space of a week, no errors reported though. My installation of Windows 11 was getting on for 3 years old and was getting a bit tired and cranky due to its age, downloaded the Windows repair installation and that worked a treat.
After the years have passed, my C: Drive was down to 60gb out of 256gb, so had a big housekeeping session removing files and moving some programmes to another drive, that now gave me 98gb free.
Have had OpenVPN on my servers for a while now and started using OpenVPN Connect as my go-to software for Windows, and was getting just over 400Mbps on my 1 gig connection, which didn't seem too bad. Looked at some of the advanced settings in Connect and saw DCO, looked it up on the Interweb, and it seemed that a try at enabling the setting could be worth it. Ran an Ookla Speedtest and was pleasantly surprised at the result, download was now just shy of 900Mbps, over double that with the previous settings, almost as fast as my fibre without a VPN.
It ended up being a long old day at 18hrs, the computer seems to be running much better now, the improvement in Internet speed was worth it alone.
