Hi guys
A while ago I posted about downsizing from big noisey PC to small form factor PC.
There were many great options and in the end I couldn't decide. I have sold off some gear and now have a bit of look to play with.

In the summer I recently got a great deal on a HP small buisness desktop and was happily using as media server, however it became my desktop PC. And it has been great! However I just got a OCZ agility 3 and the sata controller is bottling the speeds.

I want to put a better MBoard in it and put my I7 chip back?

Is this possible guys? thanks

nice so i7 can go in there? looking at it there is the extra 8 power slot as well as the main 24 bank? the PSU in the machine currently dont got that? Could be a show stopper coz I guess its a HP specific PSU? Unless theres such a thing as mATX power supplies?

Whats the best memory config for that and i7 920?

Thanks! :_)

The PSU looks to be a TFX form factor and a quick google shows some 300 and 400W ones that come with a 24pin and 4pin power connection. I dont think that you have to have and 8pin on the motherboard, you can get away with just the 4pin (with the 24pin as well of course) as long as you arent going for a mega overclock.

Dont know what memory to go with, I guess 6GB (3x2GB) would be best unless you do a lot of memory intensive tasks.

I remember ages ago I had loads of probs with a board when I used 4 pin where there should have been 8 even with no overclock, it was hidden under a black cover, when I got that power sorted all the problems went? Unless this is different?I'm tempted to start ALL Over again. I still have my i7-920, my aim is to have the smallest quiestist PC, but I want 6gbps and some REAL uSB 3, and 8 gigs of the fastest ram the board can take...:-0
