The best solution to spiders killing motherboards is to block off all the vents (generally good for airflow anyway), run folding@home continually so never turning off the computer and always having fans spinning.

I can't see a spider killing itself on a fan either. If you're worried about cockroaches and the like, swap to 38mm 3k rpm fans, and they'll be minced on contact.

my cat just looks at them runnin across the room, how ever birds,mice,voles,moles,pigeons (kid you not) and anything else he can get hold of is fair game..

When i took my 1000w tagan apart to see why it blew i found a lot of small flies in there, dont know how the hell they got in there!
