I'm not watching it again, I've still got a boner after the last time I saw it. :(

Looks like it might follow the Venom story arc and Eddie Brock will probably get his powers at the end of the movie. I hear that Dr Conners is going to be in it two. Which probably means there'll be 4 villians, with 2 main ones in this movie and then 2 others carried on to the next.
 
Didn't Venom come into the Marvel Universe from "The Secret Wars" where Spidey had an alien lifeform mold itself onto him while on the other side of the galaxy? LOL I'm showing my age but the reason I remember is I used to collect the Panini stickers that were released covering the storyline in the mid 80s. I also used to collect the Transformers stickers and I think I even completed the album - just wish I had them now!

Basically, yeah. It looks like it's going to kind of follow that storyline. I personally think that it'll sort of half follow the Ultimate Spider-Man story and use parts of the original Venom arc.
 
Apparently there is a 2nd Venom creation storyline.
Where it came about from a synthetic thingumabob originally intended to fight cancer.

They'll probably do that rather than introduce aliens :)
 
enjoyed the first two very much, cant wait for this one :)

saw the first one on telly last night as it happens, on channel 5 of all channels, lol

Yes. That is the Ultimate Spider-Man storyline.
 
Another story was that the "goo" if you will was recovered i *think* from Mars when the editors son went on a space mission. And the shuttle crashed back to earth and something happened to the goo and got over spidey.

Something like that anyway - i think.

I remember that aswell - though I may be getting confused with species (or species 2).
 
OMG what a trailer. Seeing that black costume and knowing what that leads on to drooooooooooooooooooools

I just hope they leave the venom appearance till the last 10 mins or so. Have the main part of the film concentrate on the Sandman/Goblin.
 
I thought the venom sybiot came from outer space when spidey was fighting the beyonder with all the other marvel heroes, he picked it up from an alien lab and took it back to earth.

In the cartoon it came from the crashed spaceship that JJ's son was flying.

Anyone else remember the whole spiderman clone storyline in the comic books? where peter parker was found to be a clone and ben 'something' took over with a new costume. Turned out to be so unpopular that a year later it was discovered that peter parker was actually not the clone after all, and he came back.

Some of it was so wierd even the movie industry tries to tone it down.

The first one is the secret wars storyline. The original Venom story, if you will. The cartoon one is, I don't think canon. The other one mentioned in this thread isn't part of canon, but is part of an entirely seperate Marvel canon. The Ultimate canon (don't ask what universe it takes place in, I can't remember. Standard Mavel Canon is in Universe 616. The whole thing takes wayy too much explaining though) which is probably where they will take it from. Some of the scenes in the trailer though are taken straight out of the Secert Wars storyline (Spidey using the bells sonic frequencies to remove the symbiote, etc). I would expect they will use scenes from the actual Venom storyline, and use the Ultimate Spider-Man idea behind Venom as the basis for it.

With the casting of Topher Grace as Eddie Brock, all signs point to the idea of the Ultimate storyline. Simply because in that, he's closer to Peter Parkers build etc.

The Clone Saga was actually massively popular. It just messed up the canon a lot. So they retconned stuff back slightly.

Spideys now publicly known to be Peter Parker in the comics now anyway.
