Hey,

This is mostly a little "confirmation" from a scene in the movie, and whether in "comic life" Spiderman would have been actually able to stop the train using his webbing like he did in the movie.

Personally, I am saying no.. but a friend says he can... personally I have never been the biggest fan so giving him the benefit of the doubt, is there every been something similar in the comics?

Just saw this for the first time and it's now my favourite film of all time. I used to read the comics and was an avid spidey fan but the firts film didn't do much for me, hence why it's taken me so long to see this!

I was going to say of course he could then thought about it for longer than 30 seconds. In the comics he takes down Sentinels (big robots that whooped ass) albeit one at a time and not very many which led me to think why not.

But in the comics he makes his webbing using that brain of his and it's super strong but attached to his arm with these funky braclets and use capsules if the run out. I got a bit confused in the film when his webbing wasn't working and kept thinking "reload god dammit!".

Techinally I'd say it's more fesable that he could do that in the film rather than in the comic books but I'm certain he's one much more inpressive stuff in the comics anyway.

Then again in the comics he can alter his webbing an makes special webbing to suit the occasion, although he couldn't make anything new in that situation. He could have had different cartridges on him though with super webbing or something.

Hope that helps and Spidey rocks! Nuff said!!!!

Yeah he has done it in the comics before, I think it took a hell of a lot of webbing though. It is supposed to be super-strong like spiders webs are meant to have more tensile strength than steel or something like that.

But his powers vary depending on the writer at the time and what liberties they want to take with them.

The offical line on his webbing changed so much over the years, that its really down to the writer as to decide wither or not his web shooters are organic or man made. Given the recent The Other story arc, the current offical line is that they are organic and maybe he didn't just get his powers by coincidence. Cue all this mystical mumbo-jumbo as way to justify his existance as "meant to be".

The current official line on it, is that his web shooters are indeed organic. He now also has super enhanced spider-sense, spines that come out of his arms when hes in extreme danger (a self defensive mechanism, if you will), faster reflexes, he can now stick stiff to his back, he can feel viberations along his webbing (thus, his web shooters are entirely organic) and he now has night vision as well.

Oh er. Which comics does the other story arc appear in then? Sounds interesting. :D

It covered all Spider-Man comics and was the end of Marvel Knights Spider-Man and the beginning of volume two of Sensational Spider-Man. You can buy them in paper back form together now.

As far as I know (and I'm quite the Marvelite) Spider-man's webbing is man made and has always been fired from wrist mounted shooters.

I thought the decision to go 'organic' in the movie was actually a really good one, somewhat of a departure I know, but I thought it really worked, and was very believable as being a side effect of his transformation.

Are there any true blue fans out there that this change upset? I'd be curious to know your opinions.

I also think it was a good move. His web slingers never made much sense to me but then again in the comics they provided more options for the writers. When spidey made flame proof and electro proof webbing are the first things that come to mind.

When I first heard that the webbing would be coming from his arms I swore, then after I had calmed down I though why not, it's a bit more believable than "When I was bitten the spider must have passed on to me the knowledge to make webbing" :/ Although it is funny in the comics / cartoon when he runs out, you have to laugh :D

I remeber in the flash back comics of one of the interpretation of how he inverted it. It was before he got his powers and he designed it for self defence against the people who were bullying him. :D
