Spilled tea on PS3 controller

Future refrence as long as it doesn't have sugar in it, it will (9/10) be fine after dried out. Same goes for most electrical parts as long as they don't short circut and get fried.

i spilled cola on my ps3 control, still worked but the buttons were sticking
i held it over a steaming kettle, pressed all the buttons (once awy from the steam

) no sticky buttons now and works fine!

yeah the boiler cupboard thing went fine, i guess it took all the condensation out. I was well scared as It would have been my 3rd controller and their not cheap!

I think there's something wrong with it, I can't remember adding sugar but it feels sticky and i suspect the r2/l2 buttons have something cuz when ever its like someone is permanently going left

get hold of some Iso-Propanol (2-Propanol, iso-Propyl Alcohol & IPA are the same thing also) take it apart and give it a careful clean with some cotton buds - just be carefull. you can get it from any decent computer store and it should be cheap.

Syrupy? It was diet coke! I assumed any kind of liquid on a control pad would be equally as bad tbh!

any liquid would be bad but tea is essentially water with the flavour of the tea extracted out, coke is water with all sorts of solids dissolved in it which is why if its spilt it leaves a sticky residue and even if its diet it is still full of sweeteners to replace the sugar, diet coke does not mean its better for you its just less calories.

omg, I swear to god, the damn R3 stick is stuck going left which is the camera button for most games. What's annoying is I didn't even spilt the tea there, I spilt on the D pad :mad:

My pad all of a sudden developed a fault the left analog stick was like it was stuck pushing forward tried dismantling it and cleaning but nothing luckily i had a brand new one i was given as a birthday present a few weeks ago a nice new blue one it must have been fate lol
