Spilt beer on my Ducky

So, I accidentally spilt a good amount of beer in my Ducky. I unplugged it straight away and let it dry off. The keyboard works fine but the keys on the entire right side of the keyboard are all sticky, which is very annoying. I've looked online but there's so many different answers.

Can anyone successfully cleaned a mechanical keyboard? It uses black switches if that's any difference.

I have a spare I can use for a week so if I need to let it dry for a few days that's not a problem.

I'm pretty sure it's just the keys tbh. When I remove the keys there's no sticky feeling if I press the switch directly.

pop the keys and soak them over night in cool water then dry them down should help with the stickiness any stubborn ones give a little scrub with an earbud and ipa

Funily enough, I spilled half a glass of Jack and coke on my Ducky last night. :p

Ran around like a headless chicken, found my key puller, pulled off half of the keys, used a wet-wipe and some toilet paper to clean and dab-dry the body of the keyboard, and rinsed the keys under the tap, dried, and put it back together. Job done.

I didn't turn mine off or unplug it at any point either... :p The bed under the keys on a ducky is solid, so hardly anything, if anything, should have made it further than that. I did feel a little sick, tipping the keyboard upside down and pouring whiskey and coke out of it though.....

the switches themselves will be more difficult to clean as they are soldered and one piece but some light lube might help but id contact ducky for advice on what they would recommend

If you feel brave you could soak the entire thing in de-ionised & distilled water and then leave it in the airing cupboard for a couple of weeks. :p

if the keys stop working take it apart wipe down all contacts on the pcb and the pcb with isopropynol (avoid getting isopropynol on the plastic as it will probably mark it)

As luck would have it (or not depending on how you look at it) I just noticed that some of my keys were sticky and stiff as a result of last nights spillage.

I took the keys off, got some cotton buds, dipped them in some pure H2O (the advantages of having a father who works in pharmaceuticals :p) and rubbed them around inside the top of the switch with the switch pressed down, and dried it with a dry cotton bud. It worked wonders.

You could use regular de-ionised water, distilled water, or probably just water, but I chose not to use regular water in case some reached the PCB.

Gonna bump this because it didn't work long term and this is in my interests now too. Any ideas all? Me & OP are in the same boat now, except his half of the boat is floating in a sea of beer, and mine in a sea of Jack & coke :(

If you haven't already , I say contacting Ducky would be the best thing. They must be able to help out some way.

OK so, I took the keys off, and tipped a bottle of the pure H2O on it, left it for a bit, drained it, and put it in the airing cupboard to dry out. Problem solved. :)

Right I'll give this a go. I tried Acetone but it didn't seam to work, keys still sticky.

Can you point me in the direction on where to buy pure H2O? :)

Spilt beer on a few mech keyboards, eventually the stick does go away - just takes a while. Just don't do what i did and put it next to a heater and melt the damn thing :D

I put one of my old ones through the dishwasher once, it wasnt working at all so i had nothing to lose and it suprisingly worked fine afterwards for a good few years.

Took a while to dry out though before i risked plugging it in mind.
