Spiral clocks

I think the big public space spiral clock they suggested at the end would be worthwhile. In a home, I'm not convinced of the appeal.

if you want a clock for specific accuracy or its sole purpose is time keeping obviously it won't be for you, it's a peice of art as much as it is a clock. I'm a fan of interesting clocks and I'd definitely like one of these, £350 is a bit steep for me though, might consider one down the line though, could definitely do with a better indication of minutes at least but i'm not sure I like the idea of the 3 different ones, especially spinning around each other :s

Very interesting idea but £350 is significantly more expensive than I'd be willing to pay for such an item unless I could clearly see that the materials/finish merited it and at the moment I don't think they do. I'd be more likely to consider it either at a much reduced price or with an improved finish adding value - however I'm not at the stage of furnishing a home yet so it's a bit of a moot point.

My Dad collects unusual clocks - I usually get him one for Christmas. He'd love one of those but, unless they drop drastically in price, he won't be getting one :(

Why do they cost so much

They look pretty cheap material wise, for that sort of money I'd be expecting good quality metal finishes no mdf, foam and plastic.

Largely handmade, lots of man hours invested, they're not benefitting from economies of scale, they're also made in limited quantities as almost objets d'art and then there's the R&D costs to pay off so while the materials themselves may be fairly cheap, to recoup the money invested thus far I'd hazard a guess that that's why they seem so expensive.

Tempted, if I had the money I may have even considered it, but there were so many poor clock puns in that story that I'll now avoid it like the plague. It's a shame that even respected news stations feel the need to mutilate stories with drivel like that.
