Spite/Coke zero

Artificial sweeteners that aren't broken down by the body, are they bad for you? That depends on who you ask and what research you read.

I read recently that there was a study where one group of people drank two cans of regular "soda" a day and the other group drank two cans of diet soda a day... guess which group had the largest increase in waistline?

I'll see if I can find the article for you.

[EDIT] Not the exact one I read but the gist is about the same - http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_...study-is-wake-up-call-for-diet-soda-drinkers/

I've heard that before that the sweeteners mess with your body. It expects sugar when you drink a diet drink and it gets nothing and so you go and eat more. I guess the diet part works if you don't do the latter. I drink diet drinks because i'm not keen on stuffing myself with sugar.

Aspartame when ingested breaks down into several compounds, some of which are poisons. Granted there is little to do that much harm in the immediate sense but the long lasting health effects are inconclusive.

Technically alcohol is a poison so that means very little. It is toxicity levels that are more relevant.
