hi guys i see a few of you are using splash player so thought i would give it a go and must admit for x264 stuff its great on my lappy whereas others are jumpy and stutter.

the only problem i have with it is aspect ratio settings on divx i have some old tv shows in 4:3 format which i like to play at 16:9 its there in the options but dosent seem to do anything, it still stays at 4:3

any help please

Try using mediaplayer classic to do this. (stretch to window)
I usually use WMP11 with a codec pack to play videos as I like the clean interface, but i always have VLC and mediaplayer classic installed as well in case a video doesnt play in one of the others. MPC for stretching the video, and VLC for the wider file support and a few extra features.
Don't know about splashplayer though - does it have plugin support?

no it dosent by the looks of it mate, seems a bit strange how a player that advanced cant even do stretch to widescreen. thing is i only watch divx and mkv but a lot of the mkv codecs struggle on my lappy for some reason but the splash player plays it perfect and also does a nice job of the divx. i do like using media player but i just wanted an all in one solution instead of using 2 or 3 different players.

it may be inconvenient slightly, but try to set your screen resolution to a 4:3 res to see if it stretches to the full screen size, then play your vid.
